Dark Media Project (2021)

A play on my initials, I created 2 branded promotional videos for ‘Dark Media’ as a pseudo-marketing agency. The use of indigo as a main focus color came from my love of purple, which is prevalent in most of my work. It also aligned with the name as it is a darker shade of purple and I wanted that element to shine through. As part of the assignment, we were required to make one 30-second video for a channel or “television ad” and one 15-second ad for social media, as seen below.

Aries Productions Bumper (2021)

As a foundation for any projects created throughout the duration of our degree, we were required to make a YouTube or Vimeo channel and branded ‘bumper’ or intro video for a pseudo-production company. This was something I wanted to take seriously as it could potentially be used in the future. I based my concept on my zodiac sign ‘Aries’. The qualities of Aries such as leadership, passion, curiosity, and honesty are large parts of my personality. I wanted to incorporate these elements in this bumper. I wanted something bold and electric that signifies what I attribute an Aries too. As I mentioned, I used my favorite dark indigo color and then lavender for the light surrounding the typography. As a work in progress, I chose to have the electricity flicker because it meant this is still ‘turning on’ as I strive to make this company a reality someday.

Sweet Vices Coffee House (2022)

For the Advertising Graphics class, we created our own coffee shop brand. The requirements were to make a 30-second video and a 15-second video. The inspiration for this project came from vintage wilderness logos in combination with a blocky bold sans serif, the overall feel of this branding design was meant to convey a very classic image. I believe at its core coffee shops are meant to be pretty simple, so I decided to translate that into my work on this project.

narrative.

Inspired by Film Noir, our first full length short films were set in the world of black and white and made based on the classic theme of the 40’s and 50’s. I wrote, directed, and oversaw all aspects of production and post-production for the film. A tale of betrayal and a commentary on mental health, this short film was born out of my fascination with the classic narrative focused on detectives and cold cases that have been brought back to life. Inspiration for the film came from movies like The Maltese Falcon (1941) and Touch of Evil (1958).

Passive (2022)

Originally my idea for this came from a ‘back-to-school’ ad I saw from Target that was in stop motion. I thought to use that as inspiration for my own commercial, but it was vetoed by my professor. Instead as a happy medium, the idea was shifted to a narrative style format. It blossomed into one of my favorite projects I’ve ever created to date, and also the most time-consuming and yes, very stressful. While it’s no easy feat to create in stop motion, it is incredibly rewarding. The process took close to one month to complete and it was only 6 minutes long. As mentioned before, I wrote, directed, and oversaw all production and post-production for the entire piece.
